Aus dem Glauben an den Weihnachtswichtel heraus hat sich der Brauch der Wichteltür (Nissedør) entwickelt.

Vor allem in Dänemark findet diese Tradition großen Anklang.

Jedes Jahr zieht der Weihnachtswichtel im Advent ins Haus und wohnt hinter seiner eigenen kleinen Wichteltür.

Den Wichtel selbst bekommt man nie zu sehen, denn er kommt nur nachts heraus, wenn alle schlafen. Dann hilft er bei den Weihnachtsvorbereitungen und bringt Glück ins Haus.
